Outra razão está relacionada com a região estudada: estudos por OCT estu-

dam o polo posterior, enquanto que a coroidopatia diabética observada em his-

topatologia e microscopia especular tem sobretudo extensão pós-equatorial.

O real papel da coróide ainda está por ser esclarecido havendo a neces-

sidade de mais estudos homogéneos, longitudinais e com atenção aos fatores

confundidores, tentando relacionar as alterações de espessura com alterações

morfológicas da coróide com a retina subjacente.
